Just a Note About the Future…

For almost a year now I have been documenting my tale of conversion to Judaism. Culminating in, well, my conversion to Judaism on October 16! This has hands down been the busiest, happiest, most stressful and joyful year of my life and I am sincerely grateful to all those who have stopped by this blog to read about this process.

In Judaism they say a couple really becomes married after one year of marriage. Using this line of thinking, it is my plan to continue writing Convert Confidential for at least the next year. Quite frankly, this blog has been too fun and challenging (in a good way) to stop now. I also think (and hope!) I have more to say.  I’ll reflect on the conversion process, discuss topics in Jewish living, and continue to write about my life in New York City as a young professional and as a Jew.

Plus, I’ve got a new Jewish home to decorate and a Jewish wedding to plan, people! Seriously. It’s just starting to get good. Stay with me.

There will be one change, however. I have tried as best I can to publish a new post each week (we’re going on over 40 posts now!) While it may not seem like it, it takes me a long time to brainstorm, write, and edit these posts. I need a break. Or rather, I need more time to do all the others things I like to do. I want to spend more time running, exploring New York, reading for fun, cooking dinner, and hanging out with Steve and our friends.

My goal (I gotta have a goal) is to publish a blog post twice a month. There might be months where it’s just one post. There might be months where I write three or four or more. We’re just going to see what happens.

Thanks, as always, for reading and commenting. I’ll be back in about a week and a half with a full synopsis of the conversion day itself. The Beit Din…the mikvah…it will all be covered here soon!

Just one question: What other blog topic(s) would you like, or do you hope, to see covered here in the future?

Love your blog! Reminds me of the joys of my own conversion and yes, that year after is still spent growing and changing. :-) Umm I personally wouldn’t mind hearing more about setting up a Jewish home (I have yet to do that in my life as I live with roommates, etc). Maybe any insights on transferring our home making rituals to a situation like mine, where you share a residence with non-Jewish folks? Also if along the way you delve more into, say, Jewish folk art, that could be really cool!

HI! I don’t know if you remember me, I’m Liz, friends with Margot & Jeremy, we met at Margot’s birthday in Williamsburg! Anyway, I’ve been following along on your journey and loving every bit of it! So excited for you for you and looking forward to reading whatever you share in the future. Recap, wedding planning, things you still learn – bring it all on! Congrats!!!

Thanks so much for sharing your story. It has been great to read as I too am converting and don’t have a lot of friends that can understand/associate with my feelings.
